Overview

Course summary:

This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of all Building Regulations relevant to the replacement of domestic doors and windows in England/Wales.

What is it about?

Since 2002, it has been necessary for all replacement windows & doors in England and Wales to comply with the applicable building regulations. Despite the large amounts of technical guidance already provided by FENSA as well as the Government and some local authorities, it is still clear that there are some installers (particularly those who are newer to the industry) who would appreciate further advice on the subject. This is why we have developed our 'Understanding Fully the Building Regulations' course as it is an opportunity for any installers who are unclear on any aspect of the relevant regulations to have their questions answered once and for all.

Who is it aimed at?

Companies who feel that their knowledge of the Building Regulations requires refreshing or who are still unsure on some aspects.

Course objectives:

To provide a comprehensive understanding of Parts L1 and N, the fundamental aspects of the building regulations as applicable to domestic installation work.
To clarify the requirement to make matters no worse in respect of the other building regulations.
To demonstrate the above utilising practical examples and ensure that full understanding and interpretation is achieved.

Course content:

Introduction to the Building Regulations: An outline of what the Building Regulations cover and the effect that they have on domestic housing. The applicable regulations section 1 - Part L1: A detailed discussion on Part L1 (Emissivity), the reasons for this applicable regulation and some examples of low-emissivity products.
The applicable regulations section 2 - Part N: A detailed explanation of Part N (safety glass) including comprehensive examples.
The associated regulations and their application: An overview of the considerations that must be taken in respect of the other Building Regulations (A, B, F, M, J and K).
Questions & answers: An opportunity to ask any relevant questions relating to the Building Regulations and discuss particular examples that you have experienced that may be causing concern.
